The Midwife’s Little Miracle
T
Finding she was pregnant was the best moment of midwife Montana’s life. But days later she was widowed. Now nine months have passed, she has a tiny infant, and she knows it’s time to make a fresh start.
Dr Andy Buchanan has offered Montana a job at Lyrebird Lake because it’s the perfect place to build a new life. Her courage impresses him. And he just can’t get the beautiful new mum out of his mind…
Every time Montana sees her baby in Andy’s arms her resolve not to get involved crumbles. He’s the perfect father. And he makes Montana’s life feel complete once again…
Lyrebird Lake Maternity
Every day brings a miracle…

Lyrebird Lake Book 1
T is out in the UK and it feels like the end of a long pregnancy with my new baby safely arrived.
Truly a lovely Christmas present for me.
Montana, my heroine, is the big sister I never had. She’s courageous, wounded but not a victim, and the most wonderful midwife with a vision.
Andy is everything I think heroic in a man, a rescuer, tender with babies, and he knows exactly how to treat a woman the way she deserves – with TLC and respect - he just needs to learn that he deserves the same treatment.
The winner is the township of Lyrebird Lake, the magic place these two special people find healing and love, and the home of the new midwifery birth centre you’ll come to hear more of this year. Check out my last post “Lyrebird Lake is Coming!” for more details.
To celebrate the birth of The Lyrebird Lake series, I’m giving away a copy of THE MIDWIFE’S LITTLE MIRACLE
at the end of December and the end of January. I’d love to hear suggestions on what to name our next baby to be born at Lyrebird Lake. That story is still an embryo but coming, because I’ve been side-tracked by an outback roadtrip birth with a difference. More on my latest work in progress next month.
Keep well, keep happy and my warmest wishes for the peace and joy I seem to find at Christmas and the new beginnings of 2009. I’ll leave you with a photo. My happy granddaughter, Sophie. “All I want for Christmas is my new front tooth.”

I
The best things often come to you in dreams. A year ago I dreamed up a town in south-eastern Queensland called Lyrebird Lake. The lake, the
township and the legend of the lyrebirds that live there took hold of
my imagination and became a place so real that I’m sure I could drive
north from my home and find it. Lyrebird Lake is a place of wonder and
those fortunate enough to be touched by lyrebird magic are changed by it forever.
The lyrebird is a native Australian bird with a lovely harp-shaped
(lyre-shaped) tail that he uses to attract his mate. With the ability
to uncannily mimic any sounds, the lyrebird mesmerizes the Australian
bush and in Lyrebird Lake, a myth surrounds this clever scrub dweller,
that he can heal the past, and bring new love to a bruised heart.
In this series you will meet three wonderful midwives, all
mothers-to-be as they settle in to work at the new Midwifery centre of
Lyrebird Lake. Will the lyrebird magic touch these women and the men
they are destined to meet?
THE MIDWIFE’S LITTLE MIRACLE comes out in UK January 09, Aus and NZ February 09 and North America in April 09
Let me introduce you to my friends – the midwives – I hope you’ll grow to love them all as much as I do:
MIDWIFE’S LITTLE MIRACLE -Montana Browne, widowed and alone with her new baby, unable to see past
her grief until she finds a man who understands – the man who helps her
set in motion the new Lyrebird Lake Maternity Wing – Dr Andy Buchanan.
THE MIDWIFE’S NEW-FOUND FAMILY -Misty Buchanan, a moment in time seen as a vision allows her to save a man’s life, and when Dr Ben Moore tracks her to Lyrebird Lake, will he
too be healed by the lyrebird or has he only come for his own daughter
to birth under Misty’s care?
PREGNANT MIDWIFE: FATHER NEEDED – Mia Storm- the last to follow her friends to Lyrebird Lake after her
fiancé’s infidelity – but are the feelings she holds for Dr Angus
Campbell, someone who fled the lake as a young man, able to be trusted?
Will he take her and her unborn child as his own or leave the lake
again.
Welcome to my first book of the trilogy, enjoy, and may you
too be touched by the magic that is Lyrebird Lake.
With warmest wishes
Fiona
Read MoreI love November
D
I love November.
November means Jacarandas, my favourite Australian flowering tree which comes out in glorious lilac bloom, here’s a photo of two young Jacarandas I have outside our house looking over the wetlands. As I sit here and write this, the cicadas have started to sing, so I know Christmas is coming.
November is when I have my birthday, and as a Scorpio, to my shame, I love the attention, the pressies, the cards and the cake. I love that my middle son bought me a 4WD recovery set because he worried I’d need to pull myself out of the sand now that I’ve discovered the joy of my Suburu off road.
There’s Movember, which so makes me smile, as normally clean shaven men grow hairy faces all over the world for the month of November to highlight men’s health. Lots of heroes there to do that.
And now November has seen the third of my Lyrebird Lake book’s finished and set for release in June 09, and I’ve found out they will be released April, May and June 09 in North America which I’m so excited about.
So this is the cover of the first of the Trilogy, Montana’s story,
THE MIDWIFE’S LITTLE MIRACLE.
This is a true book of my heart and I would love to hear your feedback. The first paperbacks will appear in UK in January 09 and the Australia/New Zealand copies in February, and NA in April.
I’ll post the outlines of the stories tomorrow as the grandgirls have arrived and are not amused at Nanny on the computer.
Have a great day
warmest regards
Fiona
